A Single Verse

We gathered in the well-lit room, and fellowship ensued. Sweet voices filled the table space, and set a joyous mood.

Each chose a verse upon the page, a simple line or two. Then wrote down thoughts that stirred within, what Jesus vowed to do.

Some felt themselves as undeserved, and gently wiped a tear. Together learned our Savior’s grace, of promise over fear.

His Word for us had come to life, an anchor in any storm. A single verse we take with us, and watch our lives transform.

Divine Interruption

Divinely interrupt my life, dear Lord—You see a greater plan. Keep directing every step I take—Man’s salvation is at hand.

I may be tired, weak and broke—As I wait upon your call. Give me strength to see beyond myself—As I serve them one and all.

Your love for me is it has no measure—Keep my laziness at bay. I will welcome your diversion now—For your glory lights the way.

At a Distance

At a distance our lives were much the same—in this small town place that we call home. Each day was filled with carefree fun—well protected by an unseen dome.

At a distance we partied, lived and laughed—at times quite reckless I would say. The future was still a far off blur—at what would eventually come our way.

At a distance we chose the ones we loved—to share our lives throughout each day. Our families grew as our behaviors did too—though at some point we’d lost our way.

At a distance our lives would slowly crumble— trying to bury the pains from yet our past. When our emotions overwhelmed us—we hid behind a front that would not last.

At a distance we admitted much defeat—our lives became a chaotic mess. It’s then we reached for help instead—and through the fog found others whom we could bless.

At a distance now we stand no more—each path and journey divinely placed. Our lives were once destruction bound—but stronger now in spite of what we’ve faced.

Let’s journey boldly with each new day—a second chance to us be given. To right the wrongs and at peace we’ll be—living joyous, free and forgiven.

Filling Needs

I found a man who hungered—brought food to help sustain. Another had a broken heart—shared words to ease the pain.

A single mom was tired—took her children to the park. Brought light of God’s forgiveness—to someone in the dark.

One shivered in the dampness—gave clothes and some hot tea. The gal had not the money—I paid her grocery fee.

His eyes were red and swollen—offered him a gentle smile. The woman old and tired—gave my seat to rest awhile.

A life was marred by sinning—He took it all away. The pain endured upon the cross—gave redemption on that day.

Stand Strong

A volcano, from the outside, has a presence strong and bold. It’s mighty walls resilient to whatever life unfolds.

Each day withstands the pressures of outside forces strong. While the earth beneath its surface senses something could go wrong.

The changes start out gradual, as the heat begins to form. Its pressure builds intensity with each internal storm.

Until at last each chamber, weighted down begins to fill. Which causes inside fractures to erupt and slowly spill.

Once relieved of this destruction, a healing process starts. This mighty fortress scarred a bit but didn’t fall apart.

Rest Assured

The purchase made upon that cross; gave blessings, peace and love. A favor of protection grand was given from above.

A resting place beneath his wing, secured by his own blood. Empowers us to beat the odds, especially in the flood.

Adversary can’t hold us down, with Jesus at the wheel. His loving arms protects us now, when evil comes to steal.

We may at times our footing slip, and fall upon the ground. But lovingly he picks us up, for in his righteousness we’re found.

Day by Day

I walked alone into the room—I tried hard not to cry. The shame I felt deep inside—left many questions why.

Why I hurt the ones I loved—‘twas never meant to be. I fed the sickness quietly—thought most of all of me.

I pushed aside each warning—felt numbness in my vein. Then drifted in the darkness—each step drawn towards insane.

Acceptance surfaced slowly—denial reared its head. Was on a path of danger—lest soon they’d find me dead.

My story’s not so different—except I’m here to say. That help and love surround you—so take it day by day.

Silent Walls

The cries behind the silent walls, are often never heard. A heart is broke in mourning deep, slips by without a word.

God knows your pain he feels it too, and waits right by your side. His love casts forth a single beam, that darkness cannot hide.

Hold strong to Him you’re not alone, he catches every tear. Then gently calms each raging storm, and takes away all fear.

Rest well tonight behind those walls, lay sadness at His feet. Those burdens aren’t for you to hold, His love makes that complete.

I saw behind your eyes tonight, a sadness deep within. A man of quiet solitude, who longed for what had been.

You shared how much you loved your wife, the years flew by too fast. With body frail and memory gone, a heartache now is cast.

Decisions made without your say, creates a helpless space. You yearn for life the way it was, but sorrow takes it’s place.

Tonight I pray for God’s own hand, rest gently on your heart. Give strength upon the two of you, especially now apart.

Break Free

I hung on tight to many things—my fingers became sore.

Could not let go one single bit—each chain gave way to more.

The pain beneath the weight was real—could barely take it in.

I needed to let go of much—or else I’d never win.

Threw off the chains of my self doubt—replaced with confidence.

Unleashed the guilt upon my soul—to only find acceptance.

Moved out from under constant fear—a light shown on assurance.

Broke free from all the harbored shame—now that made all the difference.

Come free yourself from chains that bind—your grip could use a rest.

By letting go each negative—serenity is best.
