I grab a book from off the shelf
It’s binding old and worn
A history book of sorts it seems
Some pages rough and torn
The words reflect a mighty soul
Of one most brave and strong
A life of trial of love and hope
That plays out like a song
I grip each page expectantly
Each chapter sets the stage
Of how I’d like my life to be
The wisdom of the age
Her love of God and family
Stood strong the test of time
An act of selfless love it seems
So perfectly sublime
I marvel at the beauty shown
To all who crossed her path
A hug she gave to everyone
Her soul a solace hath
Alas, I turn the final page
But this is not the end
I take with me a legacy
My mom, my love, my friend
May you rest well in the arms of Jesus.
